October 2025 Monthly Meeting
Tuesday, October 21, 2025, 7:30pm - Clifton House
Your Appointment with Dr. Benjamin Rush is the subject for the October 21 st program of the Historical Society of Fort Washington. Yellow Fever had become an epidemic in 1793 in Philadelphia. Residents reached out to Dr. Rush for his advice in its treatment. What did he offer them as patients in his 18th-century medical practices? Learn how successful his recommendations were.
Dr. Rush will be portrayed by Jim Miller, a retired microbiology professor from Delaware Valley University who is enjoying the arts-and-humanities phase of his life. He has taught classes in American art as well as in biology and is an active volunteer at Graeme Park, a colonial historical site in Horsham.
The meeting begins at 7:30 pm at Clifton House, 473 S. Bethlehem Pike, Fort Washington, and is open to the public. Light refreshments will be available after the program in the E. Hamilton Parke Memorial Research Library, which houses over 3,500 reference sources on local history, genealogy and American history and a good number of family histories.
